Our Staff

With decades of youth development experience at Sherwood Forest among them, our professional staff members are passionate about helping kids discover the best in themselves so they can grow up to do good in the world. Meet our team:

Mary Rogers, Executive Director

Mary has been involved with Sherwood Forest since 1967- as a camper, counselor, village director, program director, camp director, and since 2002, Executive Director. Mary is a 1970 graduate of the Leadership Training Program at Sherwood Forest. Since her first year as a camper, Mary has spent just one summer away, when she completed her Master’s Degree in Education at Harvard University. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Webster University, and is a member of the 2001 class of Leadership St. Louis. Mary is active with the American Camp Association (ACA) at the local, regional, and national levels.  Mary also works in a variety of volunteer roles for other regional and national non-profit organizations.

Addie Bond, Director of Operations

Addie holds undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Elementary Education from Arizona State University. Before joining our staff in 2004 as the Administrative Assistant, she worked at Camp Kamaji for Girls as the Assistant Director. Addie enjoys volunteering on the Parent Action Council for the St. Louis Public Schools and spending time with her husband and three kids.

Gary Chastain, Site Manager

Gary is a longtime member of the Sherwood Forest staff. As a 1970 Leadership Training Program graduate, Gary has been affiliated with Sherwood Forest for more than 45 years. Gary holds a degree in Natural Resource Planning from Humboldt State University. He is an avid hiker, bird-watcher, and naturalist.

Aaron Foster, Program Coordinator – Discovery and Explorer

Aaron first came to Sherwood Forest in 1999 as a camper, and he graduated from our Leadership Training Program in 2002. Aaron worked as a summer staff member for eight summers before joining our professional staff team in 2014. Aaron holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lindenwood University, and enjoys passing along his love of camp to future campers and their families.

Libby Massa, Community Relations Manager

Libby graduated from DePaul University in Chicago for undergrad where she majored in American Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies. After college, she returned to St. Louis as a 2012 Teach for America Corps Member and taught kindergarten for 2 years at Patrick Henry Downtown Academy. Before joining Sherwood in 2017, Libby worked at Saint Louis Public Schools as a Community Partner Program Coordinator for and the Marketing  Coordinator. Libby is an alum of the Focus St. Louis Emerging Leaders program and serves on the Teach for America – St. Louis Alumni Advisory Board.

Jim Schallom, CFRE, Director of Resource Development

Jim joined Sherwood Forest in 2015 with 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He’s worked in all areas of development, marketing, communications, and volunteer management; and he has worked for local, regional, and national organizations. Jim has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals St. Louis Regional Chapter for five years and is currently President-Elect. He holds a B.A. in Education and Certificate in Business Administration from Saint Louis University, and a Masters of Public Policy Administration and Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Jim earned designation as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) in 2014 and was recognized by AFP St. Louis as Outstanding Young Professional in 2015.

Josh Schopp, Assistant Site Manager

Amanda Westall, Program Manager – Quest

Amanda has a Masters in Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She joined the professional staff in 2014. When not at Sherwood Forest, Amanda enjoys traveling and hiking with her family, and hanging out with her dog, Teddy.

Cherelle Washington, Program Manager – Supports for Success

Cherelle joined the Sherwood Forest team in 2016. She received an undergraduate degree in Communication and graduate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia. At Sherwood, Cherelle provides college and career readiness coaching to Sherwood Forest youth which includes resume preparation, interviewing workshops, college exploration, test preparation, and so much more. Previously she has worked for College Summit, Missouri College Advising Corps, and The Wyman Center assisting high school students in achieving their educational goals.

Jeff Wilson, Program Coordinator – Challenge and Trek 

Jeff joined the Sherwood Forest “family” in 2008 as a summer staff member, and became a member of our professional staff as Continued Contact Coordinator in May of 2011. Jeff received his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University, and is a licensed Elementary Education teacher. Jeff holds a Life Guard Certification, Level 2 Archery Certification, and Level 1 Ropes Course Certification. Jeff is a member of the American Camp Association (ACA), trained ACA standards visitor, and STL Graduates member. Outside of camp, Jeff enjoys traveling (he recently went to England, Scotland, and Canada) and cheering on his favorite St. Louis teams, especially the Cardinals.
