100 Years of Black History Month – February 2026

Celebrating Black History Month and the achievements of the Black community is especially important at Sherwood Forest as most of our campers are black or multi-racial. Their history and culture are so deeply woven into our camp community, and we are dedicated to providing an environment where our Black campers always feel proud of who they are and know they belong.

2026 marks 100 years of honoring Black History Month but let us always remember that Black history is American history. Now more than ever, we must continue reflecting on our past, engage meaningfully in the present, and commit ourselves to shaping a future in which members of the Black community are able to live, thrive, and flourish unapologetically.
