Time flies when you’re having fun! Summer is in full swing at Sherwood Forest and we are having a great time with our 3rd-5th grade Explorer campers. With the sweltering temps we’ve had, campers and staff and stayed extra hydrated, participated in pool time, and chilled out in the library, among other activities. We’ve been making tons of art, scaling the Tango Tower, taking canoes out on Buder Lake, and, for some groups, embarking on hikes, river trips, and overnights outside of camp. Summer at Sherwood Forest is the season of adventure for the children we work with and we strive to provide experiences like these that they truly cannot get anywhere else. The connection with nature they feel at camp is not only exciting and new for campers, but grounding and restorative as well.
Earlier in the summer, we spent an amazing week with our Mini Campers in 1st and 2nd grades. Their introduction to camp included quintessential camp pastimes, such as outdoor cooking, s’mores making, sleeping under the stars, and more. These first experiences at Sherwood Forest are crucial to forming strong bonds here at camp and ensuring they continue to return each year. We are looking forward to seeing them again during our Constant Contact programming during the school year before they come back next summer!
